BlueTie purchased by president and CEO

Technology firm BlueTie Inc. has been purchased by its leader for an undisclosed amount, officials said.

The firm was purchased by Robert Doty, president and CEO, who took over those roles in 2012, the company said.

The firm previously was owned by  Thomas Golisano, founder and chairman of Paychex and chairman of BlueTie; Walter Turek, former senior vice president of sales and marketing at Paychex and BlueTie board member; Gary Polisseni, founder of RTI Telecom and a BlueTie board member; and David Koretz, entrepreneur and a founder of BlueTie.

Golisano and David Koretz founded the company in 1999.

BlueTie employs 10 people, including nine in Rochester. It has one service representative in Germany.

Doty plans to transform BlueTie to a B4B company with a focus on creating an IT strategy, evolving its products to meet client needs and providing secure technology services, the company said.

“I see the value that our secure services and customer-focused BlueTie team brings to our clients,” Doty said in a statement. “Over the last few years I’ve been evolving BlueTie from a single product company to a technology solutions provider. As owner, I will continue to partner with our clients to achieve their security, collaboration and technology goals while offering the personalized customer service we are known for. The future of BlueTie is bright and I’m thrilled about leading our partners and staff for many years to come.”
