Finalists named for 2017 Ethie Award

Seven finalists have been selected for the 2017 Ethie Award, an annual honor given to local businesses and organizations by the Rochester Area Business Ethics Foundation.

The finalists, chosen by an independent panel of judges, are:

• Leonard’s Express, an asset-based transportation provider in Farmington with offices located throughout the United States;
• Stantec Consulting Services, which offers engineering, architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, surveying, environmental sciences, construction services, project management and project economics with offices all over the world.
• The government of Ontario County, whose vision is to be “a vibrant community where every citizen has the opportunity to be healthy, safe, and successful.”
• Interpretek, which provides American Sign Language interpreting services, including community interpreting, video interpreting, and interpreter education.
• Holy Childhood, a non-denominational nonprofit agency that has served people with intellectual and developmental disabilities for 70 years.
• Broccolo Tree & Lawn Care, which has a customer-focused approach to commercial and residential lawn care, landscaping, storm water management and a full-service Garden Center.
• ProNexus, a management consulting and professional services firm that offers scalable, customized Finance, Accounting and IT solutions and consulting services.

“We are grateful to this year’s finalists that exemplify the highest degree of ethical conduct in the workplace,” said Alan Ziegler, RABEF co-founder and president. “These firms join a roster of strong, high integrity companies that have been named finalists through the years—and collectively move us closer toward our vision of making Rochester the ‘Gold Standard for Ethical Cultures.’”

An independent panel of judges reviews the Ethie Award entry forms to determine the finalists, and the judging committee selects the recipients of the awards.

Last year, Tipping Point Communications won the Ethie in the small business category, Triplett Machine won in the medium business category, and Lewis Tree Service received the Ethie in the large business category. Hart Hearing Centers and Leonard’s Express Inc. were also finalists.

The winners of the 2017 Ethie Awards are to be announced at an Oct. 2 evening event at Geva Theatre. Award recipients from competitions in Rochester and across the nation are eligible to enter the national competition, the American Business Ethics Awards.
