AIM Photonics’ Edward White, associate vice president of test, assembly and packaging and corporate outreach for the organization, has been named chair of the National Photonics Initiative Steering Committee.
The NPI consists of scientists and industry members that seek to raise awareness of photonics.
“I congratulate Mr. White on being named chair of the NPI Steering Committee,” said Rep. Louise Slaughter, D-Perinton, in a statement. “He has worked side-by-side with me and many in the industry as we launch the photonics institute and position our community to lead the world in this revolutionary research.
“I have no doubt that with his advocacy and leadership in this role, the photonics industry in Monroe County and throughout the country will continue to thrive in the years ahead.”
Rochester is the national headquarters of AIM Photonics, a federal and state engineering tech consortium. Photonics supports over 17,000 jobs in the region.
