Watkins Glen-based Lakewood Vineyards Inc. will receive three custom-made 2,500 gallon stainless tanks on July 20, officials said.
The transportation of the tanks will be along the west side of Seneca Lake from Vance Metal Fabricators Inc. in Geneva, Ontario County, to Watkins Glen in Schuyler County. Lakewood will track the journey and host a viewing party in its new production area, the company said. The journey is called Toast FLX Tanks.
The mode of transportation was inspired by the Genesee Brewing Co.’s Toast the Tank campaign where tanks were delivered to the company via the Erie Canal.
“We wanted to celebrate the collaboration that exists in the Finger Lakes,” said Chris Stamp president and winemaker of Lakewood Vineyards in a statement. “We’re incredibly lucky to have good friends and partners at Vance Metal Fabricators–local wine tastes better from local tanks.”
The celebration for Toast FLX Tanks begins at 5:30 p.m. at Lakewood Vineyards, at 4024 state Route 14 in Watkins Glen. The event costs is $10 per guest. Reservations are required and can be made by calling: 607-535-9252.
