Rochester Institute of Technology’s 10th annual Imagine RIT: Innovation and Creativity Festival takes place Saturday. More than 30,000 people are expected to attend.
The festival, which features 400 interactive exhibits in science, technology, engineering, the arts and more, as well as live entertainment, starts at 8:30 a.m. and runs until 5 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
RIT President William Destler is slated to start the event with his Health Innovation Challenge at Clark Gymnasium.
This year’s annual challenge asked students to create technologies—apps, products—that help promote good health. Entries will be judged on innovation, commercial feasibility and effectiveness or technical viability. Winners could receive $1,000 or a banjo from the collection of Destler, RIT said.
An opening event is set for 10 a.m. in Ingle Auditorium, where the challenge winner will be announced, officials said.
