Wehle named CEO of Genesee Country Village & Museum

Elizabeth Wehle has been named president and CEO of the Genesee Country Village & Museum, following her 10 months of service as interim leader there, the non-profit’s board of trustees said Monday.

Prior to the museum, Wehle most recently had served as executive director of donor relations and stewardship at the University of Rochester. She has held related development roles with the university over the past two decades.

Wehle is the granddaughter of Genesee Country Village & Museum founder John Wehle and has served as a museum trustee since 1997. She also has chaired the development committee and played a role in ensuring the financial stability of the museum.

“Upon her initial appointment, Becky quickly made strong connections with museum staff, volunteers and donors, along with the local community,” Chair Gayle Stiles said. “We are so pleased that she is staying on, and the board looks forward to working with Becky in the coming years to help the museum continue to grow and thrive.”

Attendance at the attraction grew in 2016 and the venue has new programs planned, as well as a new website and commemorative book in the works.

The museum will open for its 42nd year on Mother’s Day weekend, May 13 and 14, with free admission for all moms. Among the attractions over the weekend will be 100 years of chocolate and fashion.
