Second annual women’s leadership series kicks off March 28

The Prima Group and the SJFC Public Relations Student Society of America at St. John Fisher College will serve as hosts to the second annual women’s leadership series, “Lead #LikeAGirl.”

The series kicks off March 28 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. with a leadership training session. On March 29, the Lead #LikeAGirl Power Panel takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. Both events are free.

Open to select local high school and all area college students, the leadership training session will be led by Amanda DeVito, vice president of strategy and development at Butler/Till Media Services Inc. It will be held in the Golisano Academic Gateway of St. John Fisher.

The Power Panel will feature Katrina Busch, president of Roberts Communications Inc.; Lauren Dixon, founder and CEO of Dixon Schwabl Inc.; Elaine Naum, vice president and group account director of Partners + Napier Inc.; and Tracy Till, founder and former CEO of Butler/Till.

The panel event takes place in Basil Hall Room 135 at St. John Fisher and it is open to all students and professionals. Donations will be accepted at the door to benefit Willow Domestic Violence Center.

The series was founded by students Alexandra Hristodoulou and Rachael Zalewski—both media management majors in the Class of 2017—in 2015.

They were prompted to start the series by Professor Arien Rozelle in an effort to empower St. John Fisher students in media and communication fields, provide them with the skills to exercise active leadership and to celebrate their strengths personally and professionally, organizers said.

“Lead #LikeAGirl is an important event to prepare young professional women to excel in college and the workplace as we prepare to enter an industry where gender inequality still exists,” said Claire Lupi, president of the Prima Group, in a statement.

Parking for both events will be available in Lot A of St. John Fisher College.
