Bausch & Lomb Inc. today announced it has introduced daily disposable contact lenses for people with astigmatism.
Biotrue ONEday for Astigmatism is aimed at the approximately 73.2 million people in the U.S. who are astigmatic. Only 8.8 million people currently wear toric lenses for that reason.
During the lens development process, Bausch & Lomb scientists assessed blink patterns across a wide range of patients. The product has an evolved peri-ballast design for stability and a unique dehydration barrier to help the lens maintain 98 percent of its moisture for up to 16 hours.
Bausch & Lomb is a subsidiary of Valeant Pharmaceuticals International Inc.
