Harris segment receives contract worth up to $403 million

Harris Corp.’s Rochester-based Communication Systems’ segment has been awarded a five-year contract that could reach $403 million from the Defense Logistics Agency for tactical radio spares and components.

The contract is a continuation and expansion of previous contracts with the federal agency and will provide support to additional Harris radio products. It allows the Army to secure spare and replacement parts necessary to support various Harris radios, the company said.

“This continuation contract allows the U.S. Army to sustain superior tactical communications technology and extends Harris’ legacy of providing the most advanced solutions to meet our customers’ mission critical communications needs,” said Brendan O’Connell, president of Tactical Communications at Harris Communication Systems.

Harris ranked second on the most recent Rochester Business Journal list of manufacturers with 3,200 workers. Its local operations include Communication Systems and Harris Space and Intelligence Systems, formerly Exelis Geospatial Systems.
