Eastman School teams with ArtistShare

Eastman School of Music has announced a partnership designed to help launch the careers of students and alumni.

The school is teaming with ArtistShare Inc., a company founded in 2001 as the Internet’s first crowdfunding platform for creative artists.

Eastman School musicians selected for the program will have access to featured billing on the ArtistShare and Launchpad websites, professional career and marketing services, creative project support and the opportunity for worldwide release of their recordings on the ArtistShare label, officials said.

ArtistShare’s first artist, composer Maria Schneider, is an Eastman School alumna and was the first to win a Grammy for a recording with Internet-only sales, “Concert in the Garden.”

“As a school that embraces artistry, creativity and innovation combined with entrepreneurial moxie, Eastman is thrilled to partner with a business that exemplifies these very qualities in the professional music world,” Dean Jamal Rossi said. “We are excited by the unique platform that will be afforded to our students and alumni, as well as by the creative ideas that they will bring to ArtistShare."
