Clifton Park telecom hires marketing veteran

Technology firm Annese & Associates Inc. has added telecommunications industry veteran Philip Yawman to its senior leadership team, officials said.

“Phil’s strengths complement those of the other members of the Annese leadership team,” said Jeffrey Fasoldt, executive vice president and chief financial officer. “He will be instrumental in helping us to drive continued private-sector sales growth and furthering our expansion into emerging technology areas such as cloud computing and cybersecurity.”

Yawman is executive vice president of sales and marketing operations for the company and is to remain in the Rochester area. He reports to Raymond Apy, president and CEO of the firm based in Clifton Park, Saratoga County.  Yawman began in his role Oct. 31 and attended Annese’s first annual technology conference, SightLine 2016.

The event was held in Syracuse and brought business leaders together statewide for days of education, innovation and networking, officials said.

Yawman most recently held the role of senior vice president at Finger Lakes Technologies Group Inc.

“I had been diligently looking for the right opportunity and cultural fit, and I couldn’t be more excited and grateful for this new opportunity at Annese,” Yawman said. “I was drawn to Annese for many reasons; namely, its customer intimacy model is second to none.

“The company also has a demonstrated competency of integrating products and services that result in customized solutions for its customers. Annese has a compelling value proposition and a well thought out growth strategy that reflects the rapid changes taking place in the technology solutions space.”

Annese & Associates is a technology integrator. The company employs 150 people in New York, including 15 people in Rochester at the Culver Road Armory.

Annese & Associates expects to close the year at $95 million in revenue, up from $86 million last year.

“We opened our first local sales office in 1977, so for nearly four decades Rochester has been a key market for Annese,” Fasoldt said.

Over the past year, Annese has relocated to the Culver Road Armory and has added local senior executive leadership in the region, he said.

“We are deeply committed to the Rochester community, and Phil’s addition to the team further strengthens our regional focus and growth efforts,” Fasoldt said.

Yawman has over 20 years of experience in the technology industry and previously served as vice president and general manager of Frontier Communications Greater Rochester Region, officials said.

“Phil is an extremely talented individual who brings with him more than two decades of executive leadership experience, strong business acumen and a results-driven approach to sales and marketing,” Fasoldt said. “Just as important, he is a great cultural fit and believes in our organizational goals.”

Yawman’s experience has primed him for the role with Annese & Associates, he said. He plans to grow the company and grow as a leader in the new role.

The company is primed to adapt to the changes of the technology industry, Yawman said.

“There are tremendous changes taking place in the market today, and Annese is extremely well-positioned to deliver customized technology solutions and service capabilities to our customers,” he said. “Annese has world-class capabilities delivered to local customers by local employees.”
