Kodak, Bullitt Group unveil smartphone

Eastman Kodak Co. and Bullitt Group Ltd. on Thursday introduced the Kodak Ektra Smartphone, what officials tout as a photography-led smartphone designed for those with a passion for photography.

The device fuses Kodak’s history in imaging with the latest innovations in smartphone photography, Kodak officials said. It is slated to launch soon across Europe.

“Kodak has a rich history in imaging technology and the launch of the Kodak Smartphone today demonstrates our ongoing commitment to bringing the latest advances in photography to consumers.” Kodak CEO Jeffrey Clarke said.

The original Kodak Ektra was launched in 1941.

Bullitt Group, which has its headquarters in England, is the global licensee for: Cat (Caterpillar Inc.), Kodak and Land Rover for mobile phones and related peripherals. Founded in 2009, Bullitt Group enables top brands to enter consumer technology categories.

Since its formation six years ago Bullitt Group has designed, manufactured and distributed millions of mobile phones, audio products, other connected devices and related peripherals to more than 60 countries across the globe, officials said.

“We are excited to reach out to this dynamic and engaged photography category and look forward to getting this camera phone into people’s hands,” said Peter Stephens, CEO of the Bullitt Group.
