With BridgeTower, RBJ’s mission is unchanged

Today marks the start of the Rochester Business Journal’s 30th anniversary year and our first issue as a member of the BridgeTower Media family.

BridgeTower Media is the leading provider of business-to-business information, research and marketing solutions from west to east in cities such as Boise, Phoenix, Oklahoma City, Milwaukee, St. Louis, Baltimore and Rochester, among others. It represents more than 20 markets and more than 20 different business and legal communities across the country, but it maintains one commitment: to provide essential and local business news.

That’s a good thing. That’s what the Rochester Business Journal has been doing all along, from the time Rochester was still a Kodak and Xerox company town until today, in this era of startups, technology and new trends to follow. The newspaper may have a new parent company, but our award-winning journalists will continue to cover the news that you need to manage and grow your business.

I am honored to serve as the interim publisher. Legal and business news are what I have built my career on and a field that I have loved from the moment I started. My first job in media was selling classified ads for the Daily Record in Baltimore, the state’s top business and legal news provider since the paper’s reporters began covering trials in the courthouse around the corner in 1888.

From classified sales, I took on roles in outside sales, audience development and product development. Now I have more than 20 years’ experience in business-to-business publishing, and since 2010, I have served as the Daily Record’s publisher.

In June 2015, I was named publisher of New York Daily Record, Western New York’s daily legal news source. Since then, I have had the opportunity to see firsthand Rochester’s economic growth and the innovative spirit of local businesses and law firms.

What I have learned is that Rochester is a place where old and new come together, and what the news business has taught me is that those junctures are always where important things happen.

In our 30th year, RBJ will continue to provide the news and information your business relies on—plus more. Keep an eye out for expanded digital coverage, new print features and new digital marketing opportunities.
