Tell us about the new business you’re involved in.
Old Hilltop Market is on Empire Boulevard in Penfield. We sell all locally made and crafted goods. We carry items from many providers such as Pittsford Farms Dairy, Small World Food (baked goods, vegetable ferments), Davis Honey (raw, unfiltered honey), Everyday Apothecary (organic health and beauty products) and Fiz (soda). We also carry local maple syrup, sauces and dips.
The Old Hilltop Market carries a wide variety of gift shop items that are all unique and made by local artisans, such as Industrial Rustic by Tucker. We sell seasonal flowers and hanging baskets, and we are currently preparing for the fall season.
We also have featured local vendors at a farmers market on weekends this summer, including Camman Acres (pasture-raised chickens and turkeys) and Starla Bake & Brew (baked goods and coffee). Check our Facebook page for the schedule.
The owner of the Old Hilltop Market is Ryan Morse. For years this location was Hilltop Market, a garden plants and accessories store.
How did you get involved in this business?
I started as project manager to oversee remodeling of the building and to get the business up and running. We opened May 5. I brought in all the inventory and met with local vendors, and now I run the day-to-day business.
