RIT college gets interim dean

The College of Applied Science and Technology at Rochester Institute of Technology has an interim dean, officials announced Thursday.

Manian Ramkumar, head of the college’s manufacturing and mechanical engineering technology department since 2013, will assume his new post July 1.

He succeeds Fred Walker, who is leaving RIT to become president of Edinboro University in Pennsylvania.

Ramkumar has a 27-year tenure with RIT, beginning as an adjunct faculty member. He also served as its undergraduate and graduate program chairman, and as director of RIT’s Center for Electronics Manufacturing and Assembly.
