Annese plans growth for operation here

After topping $100 million in revenue in 2014, Annese & Associates Inc. has big plans for its Rochester footprint in 2016.

The company, based in Clifton Park, Saratoga County, has been operating in Rochester for nearly four decades. The Rochester office accounted for roughly one-third of revenue in 2014, officials said. The company has seven offices in the state.

The firm exceeded $100 million in revenue two years ago—the most recent financial results available— with $105 million as a rough estimate of the final total. Nearly all customers are based in New York.

The informational technology company monitors, installs and services networks that integrate voice, video and data, acting as a technology solutions integrator.

Last month the firm hired Jeffrey Fasoldt, which will mean significant change in the Rochester office, company officials said. He serves as executive vice president and chief financial officer of Annese & Associates.

Fasoldt is a former executive vice president and chief financial executive at Toshiba Business Solutions. He also brings experience from Logical Operations Inc., Element K Content LLC and Sutherland Global Services Inc. He is the only member of Annese & Associates’ senior leadership team to be based in Monroe County.

“Annese & Associates is definitely at a point where the company was in need of adding some additional executive level talent,” Fasoldt said. “My background has certainly set me up well to help the company as we get to that next level of growth.”

Fasoldt’s main focus will be on investing in resources and people over the next five years. He also will oversee the company’s customer relationship management system conversion that will help the business run more efficiently.

The system will integrate everything from sales to marketing to finance, and improve workflow efficiencies and administrative processes companywide, officials said.

“To go from that $100 million company to a $200 million company, that takes additional investment,” Fasoldt said. “Often it takes a different structure for the company, it takes additional investment in people and resources. And that’s really where my focus is going to be particularly over the next three to five years.”

Annese & Associates employs 15 people in Rochester. Companywide the firm has 130 employees. It expects to add 10 to 15 this year across New York to accommodate growth.

“The area we expect to grow in Rochester is primarily in the mid-market commercial business space,” said Raymond Apy, president and CEO. “We see it as a vibrant financial market for us in the Rochester area. It’s been part of our company for a long time and we’ve steadily grown. It’s actually one of the larger producing offices in the company.

“We expect continued growth there so we’re looking to hire sales and we’re also hoping to add additional service positions in that office as well.”

Company leaders are sizing up Rochester real estate to find a larger space. The local office is on Pittsford-Victor Road in Perinton.

The daughters of Frank Annese, founder of the firm in 1970, own the firm.

“Annese has been a long-term partner with MCC primarily for the value and the business relationships they foster,” said James Clement, Monroe Community College’s associate director of communications and network services and a 15-year customer of Annese & Associates. “As a customer I can reach out and know that I’ll have any issue resolved. Although MCC has talented specialists on the telecom, server and network support teams, “Annese provides an additional resource for our experts to interact with when solving complex problems.”

The company shifted focus from being an IT reseller to a value-added reseller and managed services provider.

“We’ve got some immediate challenges from my perspective mainly because we’re in the midst of a system conversion right now which, when we come out the other side in just 60 to 90 days, it’s going to be phenomenal for us,” Fasoldt said. “It’s going to be a huge improvement in the amount of information that we have available to run our business to manage our services and our clients better. It’s also going to simply make us more efficient.”

The company continues to look for chances to grow in Rochester.

“Annese & Associates is thriving and growing,” Apy said. “And it’s very important to us for our client base and prospective clients in that area to know that we have solutions around cloud and security that are second to none.”
