Harris’ segment here receives $66M in orders

Harris Corp.’s Rochester-based Communications Systems segment has received $66 million in orders to provide wideband tactical radios and support services to nations in Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Harris said it received the orders during the first quarter of its fiscal 2016.

The company is to provide multiband handheld, manpack, vehicular and airborne radios, as well as related equipment, training and maintenance services.

“Harris radio systems enable our customers to deploy robust, secure tactical communication networks,” said Chris Young, president of Harris Communication Systems, in a statement. “This contract reflects the continued confidence in Harris technology to provide superior situational awareness on battlefields around the world.”

Harris’ Communications Systems segment combines the former Harris RF Communications and Exelis Inc. Night Vision and Communications Solutions businesses. Harris acquired Exelis in a multibillion dollar deal in May.
