Wegmans to carry Rootstock Ciderworks’ hard cider

Rootstock Ciderworks is partnering with Wegmans Food Markets Inc. to launch its Rootstock Original Hard Cider, officials said.

The Williamson, Wayne County-based cidery’s products is to be available in Wegmans stores in Rochester, the Finger Lakes and in the Southern Tier, with the first product packaged in 12-ounce cans.

“We take great pride in the fruit that we grow, and in the fact that we are a true craft beverage maker,” said David DeFisher, owner and founder of Rootstock Ciderworks, in a statement. “We own the land, we grow it, we press, ferment and bottle all of our ciders here on site. We are very proud, and thrilled to partner with Wegmans Food Markets to bring our quality hard ciders to market.”

Rootstock, established by DeFisher in 2012, is one of the first craft cider operations to can its product, officials said.
