Pittsford middle school excels in eighth-grade tests

Barker Road Middle School in Pittsford ranks in the top five locally in all three exams taken by eighth-graders statewide—and it led all Monroe and Ontario county middle schools on the English exam.

In the eighth-grade math exam, Barker Road placed second; Eugenio Maria De Hostos Charter School in Rochester took the No. 1 spot. Barker Road ranked third in the science test, trailing No. 1 Honeoye Falls-Lima Middle School and No. 2 Marcus Whitman Middle School in Ontario County. (See complete middle-school rankings.)

An analysis of middle school test data from the state Department of Education will appear in the 2015 Rochester Business Journal Schools Report Card, which will be published as a supplement to Friday’s weekly edition of the paper.

The rankings are based on the percentage of eighth-grade test takers achieving “superior” (Level 4) scores.

All current RBJ subscribers will receive a copy of the 2015 Schools Report Card. To pre-order extra copies, go to the RBJ Newsstand.
