Cafe Dance Studio to move to Jonathan Child House

This Greek Revival mansion, at 35 South Washington St., was built in 1837-38 for Rochester’s first mayor, Jonathan Child.

Tango Cafe Dance Studio Corp. is slated to relocate on July 1 to the Jonathan Child House.

The business has been located at 389 Gregory St. since Sep. 2008. The Greek Revival mansion, at 35 South Washington St., was built in 1837-38 for Rochester’s first mayor, Jonathan Child.

The firm has four employees and expects to add seven staffers this year.

Owner Kerri Vaughn is ready for the new space.

“I’m a very strong believer in making things come into fruition by imagining them,” she said. “I’ve had this vision for a long time and these are the fruits of all my visions and my labors. I’m very proud of myself and really happy to be able to stay in Rochester.”

The new location meets the company’s need for additional capacity and parking. It also gives the business a site of distinction, offering roughly 7,500 square feet comprised of two ballrooms, two teaching salons and two rooms for a boutique and cantina.

“I’m very excited to be in the Cascade District,” Vaughn said.  “I’m very excited to stay in Rochester; I’m ready to go.”
