Nine financial executives from the business and non-profit sectors have been selected as finalists for the 2014 Financial Executive of the Year Award, which recognizes contributions to their organizations and the community during the past year. Two others have been chosen as honorees in separate categories.
The awards luncheon, co-presented by the local chapter of Financial Executives International and the Rochester Business Journal, is scheduled for May 20 at the Hyatt Regency Rochester. Warren Hern, president and CEO of Unity Health System, is to deliver the keynote address.
The finalists are:
Jay Baker, chief financial officer, iCardiac Technologies Inc.;
Leonard DiSalvo, CFO, JML Optical Industries LLC; and
Susan Gurak, CFO, Monroe Community College Foundation.
Thomas Johnson, executive vice president and CFO, Conifer Realty LLC;
Tracy Petrichick, vice president of financial and business operations, Arc of Monroe County; and
Gita Ramachandran, CFO, ACM Medical Laboratory Inc.
Paul Perrotto, CFO and strategic development officer, Hillside Family of Agencies;
James Stenger, senior vice president, CFO, secretary and treasurer, Lewis Tree Service Inc.; and
Jack Whittier, CFO and corporate treasurer, the Palmer Family of Cos. Inc.
Public company honoree
Efrain Rivera, senior vice president, CFO and treasurer, Paychex Inc.
Turnaround specialist honoree
Raymond Steinmetz Jr., senior vice president, CFO and corporate secretary, the Upstate National Bank.

Keynote speaker Hern was chief financial officer of Unity Health System before assuming the top post in 2010. He had worked in finance positions for Unity for approximately 30 years. Hern has served as national chairman of the Healthcare Financial Management Association. He received a bachelor of arts degree in accounting from Southern New Hampshire University and an MBA in finance from Rochester Institute of Technology.
