Rochester Institute of Technology set a record in fiscal year 2013 for the number of projects receiving funding, with 397 researchers securing funding either as principal or co-principal investigators on active research.
The project total represents a 12 percent increase over the previous year. The university honored researchers at a reception Friday. It also recognized 15 recipients of Seed Funding Awards and 16 new inductees into RIT’s PI Millionaires, a group of researchers who have achieved funding of $1 million or more since 2000.
“Research at RIT is especially exciting right now,” said David Bond, director of RIT’s sponsored research services. “A growing number of researchers are getting funding and producing impactful results, in spite of the limitations in sponsor budgets.”
The efforts of RIT’s investigators led to $47 million in research funding last year, the university noted.
