Skooba Design to use crowdfunding for yoga gear launch

Skooba Design is using the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter Inc. to launch its next product and continue to grow the 13-year-old business.

Skooba Design and Hotdog Yoga are both dbas of Three Point Ventures LLC. The Brighton-based manufacturer of carrying cases for laptops and tech gear is launching the crowdfunding campaign to bring Yogatote by Hotdog Yoga Gear to market. The multipurpose bag separates the yoga mat from the main part of the bag.

Contributors to the campaign will receive rewards such as exclusive access to new products, once the campaign has reached its goal which ranges from $19,000 to $25,000.

“It really serves two purposes obviously raising money is the main reason people do it but the truth is that as a small business most businesses can’t raise enough money in crowdfunding to run their whole business,” said Michael Hess, CEO of Skooba “This will put a dent in our manufacturing costs and some of the launch activities but of equal value is it’s a way to prove out the market because you see what people’s response is right off the bat.”
