Crews from Ontario Specialty Contracting Inc. took down a large section of the McCurdy Building early Thursday afternoon, leaving standing just two of the six sections that comprised the building.
The demolished section, made up of three bays, was on the corner of East Main and Euclid streets.
A series of cuts were made in the section’s steel frame over the last three days to allow Ontario Specialty Contracting to trip out the frame, said Michael Byrne, LiRo Engineers Inc. construction manager said.
Work at the McCurdy’s site is scheduled to continue for several days. Demolition work at the 8½-acre Midtown site is scheduled to be completed by September.
