Monroe County has been chosen as the host for the National Senior Games Championship for three years beginning in 2010, officials announced Thursday.
The Senior Games Fall Championship will be here Sept. 9 to 12, 2010, with competitions such as hockey, team bowling, pickleball, power lifting, billiards and golf, officials said. Some 2,000 participants are expected.
“We are thrilled and honored to have the opportunity to host an event of this magnitude and benefit from the positive impact the games will have on our local economy over the next three years,” Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks said in a statement.
The event will be produced by the Monroe County Sports Commission.
