The Rochester office of Marcor Remediation Inc. has been selected as a sub-contractor to perform abatement work on the Seneca and McCurdy buildings at the Midtown Plaza site, officials announced Wednesday.
Marcor Remediation, whose corporate offices are in Maryland, was hired by Cambria Contracting Inc., which also selected Bristol Environmental Inc. from Pennsylvania.
A minimum of 50 percent of the workers, including workers from all subcontractors, are required to be local hires through Laborers Local Union 435 or through job interviews conducted at project headquarters at 45 Euclid St., city officials said.
Cambria Contracting will begin asbestos abatement work Friday on floors 12, 13 and 14 in Midtown Tower, officials said. The restaurant and bar areas on the 14th floor have been gutted, they said.
Demolition and debris removal is under way at the B. Forman Building and at former store locations within the plaza, officials said.
