Paterson announces $900 million in education funding

Some $900 million in federal funding will be divvied up among some 700 school districts and charter schools throughout New York State, Gov. David Paterson announced Friday.

The funding will be administered by the New York State Education Department through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, Paterson said.

“The education grants we have announced today will help us target the school districts in need of improvement and provide our children with a strong foundation for future opportunities,” he said in a statement.

A list of schools and districts receiving funding is available at emsc.nysed.gov.
