Capstone Information Technologies Inc. closed on a deal to purchase a new home on Plymouth Avenue.
The IT firm is moving its headquarters in Corn Hill to 252 Plymouth Avenue from an office it was renting at 260 Plymouth Ave.
“We were looking to move Capstone’s headquarters when the lease expired earlier this year. We were looking at buildings in the suburbs as well as the City,†CEO Sitima Fowler said in a statement released Thursday. “It turned out that the City came to our assistance in a big way.â€
Fowler said the City of Rochester was instrumental in enabling the deal.
“The (Rochester Economic Development Corporation) office appointed a single point of contact and streamlined all transactions. The City treated us as though we were a big client,†Fowler said. The City also provided grant money to help with renovate the building, erected in 1890.
Carlos Carballada, city economic development chief, said REDCO and the city have made IT businesses such as Capstone a high priority.
“We strongly believe that the high-tech area is a solid area of growth both now and in the future,†he said.
Capstone provides computer and network support services to area businesses.
