Xerox Corp. on Thursday announced new executive appointments, as well as the realignment of the firm’s North American operations.
James Firestone was named president of corporate operations. His new responsibilities include research, strategy, information management, human resources and ethics, marketing and communications, Fuji Xerox relations, and Xerox’s environmental sustainability initiatives.
Firestone previously was executive vice president and president of Xerox North America.
The company’s North American operations, officials said, will be organized in two groups:
Firestone, 53, joined Xerox in 1998 from IBM. He has served as Xerox’s chief strategist and, last year led the company’s $1.5 billion acquisition of Global Imaging Systems, increasing Xerox’s access to small- and midsize businesses in the United States by 50 percent, officials said.
“Jim’s exceptional strategic insights, diverse experience and deep industry knowledge are ideally suited for this new role and give us the opportunity to better integrate core corporate functions that support all areas of our enterprise worldwide,†said Anne Mulcahy, Xerox chairman and CEO.
Shares of Xerox (NYSE: XRX) were trading midday at $13.88, down 37 cents from Wednesday’s close.
