Cooper Cos. posts higher Q3 earnings

Cooper Cos. Inc. Thursday announced third-quarter net income of $17.9 million, or 67 cents a diluted share, on revenues of $285.9 million.
The company—reporting after the markets closed—said it earned $8.2 million, or 71 cents a share, on revenues of $251.2 million in the same period last year.
Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected Cooper Cos. to report third-quarter revenues in the range of $281.5 million to $289 million and to post diluted per-share earnings of 65 cents.
“We are pleased with our third-quarter operating performance,” Cooper Cos. president and CEO Robert Weiss said.
The Pleasanton, Calif.-based company is the parent of contact lens maker CooperVision Inc., which employs some 1,300 in the Rochester area. CooperVision accounted for $243.2 million of third-quarter revenues, the parent company said.
CooperVision’s local facilities include its Americas division headquarters offices in Fairport, a Scottsville manufacturing facility and a distribution center in Henrietta.
