Monro Muffler announces president

Monro Muffler Brake Inc. has named a new president.
John Van Heel, 42, has been with the company five years and most recently served as executive vice president and chief administrative officer. In his new role Van Heel will lead the company’s acquisition efforts and will work with store operations on the implementation of Monroe’s growth strategy for existing stores.
“We are pleased to recognize John for his outstanding leadership and contributions to our company since joining the management team five years ago,” said Robert Gross, chairman and CEO. “He has been closely involved in executing our acquisition strategy and with integrating our recent additions to our business.”
Van Heel succeeds Gross in the president’s post.
Monro’s most recent acquisition included Buffalo’s seven Broad-Elm Tire & Service Centers in January.
Monro operates 720 stores and 14 dealer locations in 17 states. Shares of company stock (Nasdaq: MNRO) were trading up 3 cents at $16.93 mid-afternoon.
