Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks will give her 2008 State of the County address at 7 p.m. April 22 at Rochester Institute of Technology’s Center for Integrated Manufacturing Studies.
CIMS is part of RIT’s Golisano Institute for Sustainability.
“The future of our community rests with a continued and relentless focus on sustainability and conservation, and RIT is a valued partner in turning this vision into a reality,†Brooks said in a statement released Monday.
Brooks and RIT president William Destler in July 2007 announced a partnership for RIT to conduct research on the county’s fleet of environmentally friendly vehicles. The research is designed to determine the impact of alternative fuels on the fleet.
“The work that we are doing with Monroe County and other industry and government partners in alternative fuels and transportation systems is a great example of how university research and technology transfer can be applied to community needs,†Destler said.
Brooks’ address will come two weeks after Rochester Mayor Robert Duffy gives his 2008 State of the City address at 7 p.m. April 7 at Hochstein School of Music and Dance.
