B&L names new HR exec
Bausch & Lomb Inc. said Thursday it has hired Paul Sartori, a former biotech and pharmaceutical industry human resources executive, to replace its current top HR executive, David Nachbar.
Nachbar has decided to leave Bausch & Lomb to pursue other options including public service opportunities, the company said. His exit would make Nachbar, who last year expressed interest in seeking the Democratic nomination to run for the Congressional seat currently held Rep. Randy Kuhl, R-Hammondsport, the second top Bausch & Lomb executive to step down since Warburg Pincus LLC’s takeover of Bausch & Lomb in private-equity buyout in October.
In January, Bausch & Lomb directors named Gerald Ostrov to replace Ronald Zarrella as chairman and CEO, bestowing a new title, chairman emeritus, on Zarrella.
Ostrov noted a longstanding personal and professional admiration for Sartori.
“I’ve known Paul for more than 20 years and have great respect for his business judgment,†Ostrov said in a statement. “He has an ability to develop superior talent and…(to work) with organizations to improve their effectiveness.â€
Sartori most recently served as senior vice president of organizational development and human resources of BioTrove Inc., a Boston-based firm that provides genotyping and microfluidics aids to pharmaceutical and life sciences researchers.
He previously was a senior vice president, partner and principal of the CHM Partners International LLC executive search firm and before that held top HR posts with Ciba-Geigy and Novartis A.G. He also has taught and held administrative positions at James Madison University and the University of Virginia.
Sartori is slated to take up his duties at the eye-care company on Monday.
