Do you think an economic stimulus package including tax rebates
is needed now as a recession-fighting measure?
If Congress approves an economic stimulus package,
what should be the primary focus?
50% Business and consumers equally
We are an overtaxed people, from businesses to the wealthy through the middle class. Tax relief is desperately needed for the public. A severe case of spending cuts needs to be implemented for all government agencies from the federal government through local governments and school districts.
A Keynesian approach is needed to stimulate the economy, not a “quick fix” stimulus package that mails out rebate checks, which will likely be used to purchase goods made by China. Create jobs and investment by offering incentives to small businesses. We need to also reduce interest rates and invest in our infrastructure.
Although I support the president’s economic stimulus package as a “shot in the arm,” much more must be done to improve the health of the U.S. economy. … Long-term planning by business and government needs to take place in order to decrease unemployment, strengthen America’s manufacturing and service sectors, and increase our level of exports to world’s markets.

It’s the president’s out-of-control spending in Iraq that got us here, plus his crony-favoring policies. Let’s get out of the war, with a well-thought strategy by someone other than an oil country cowboy, and follow how Bill Clinton got a balanced budget!
