How would you rate the Duffy administration’s job performance over the past 15 months in negotiating the sale of Rochester’s fast ferry?
11 Not too good
Do you think the city should make a strong effort to attract a company to launch a smaller, privately run ferry between Rochester and Toronto?
Would you support the use of any local taxpayer-funded incentives
to encourage a privately run ferry service?
Mayor Duffy made it clear from the beginning what his intentions for the boat were. There was no waffling. It appears that he held out for the best offer. He’s to be congratulated!
Why Euroferries was given so much time by the city administration to prove financial soundness is a mystery to me. This is a fundamental first step in any negotiations to first establish the creditworthiness of a buyer. The city administration now taking bows for a sale to the new buyer is the height of spin doctoring and an attempt to cover up their lack of skill and business savvy in the original deal.
