If the Bills were to leave Western New York it would be a huge economic and psychological blow to this area. Having the Bills in Western New York puts us into the biggest sports league in America and makes us a national player in the most major of professional sports.

I was deputy press secretary to the governor of Maryland when the Baltimore Colts snuck out of town in the middle of the night. Maryland had offered a very good financial deal to Robert Irsay, owner of the Colts, but Indianapolis was closer to his home and the mayor of Indianapolis planned to revitalize his city around sports attractions. Losing the Colts was a serious blow to Baltimore’s image and a wake-up call to support a new park for the Orioles-what we know today as Camden Yards.
