If the 2008 presidential election were held today and one or more
of the following New Yorkers was on the ballot,
whom would you be most likely to vote for?
54 – Former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani
36 – Sen. Hillary Clinton
6 – Sen. Charles Schumer
2 – Former Gov. George Pataki
2 – New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg
Poll conducted 1/2/07
How can serious consideration be given to George Pataki knowing the perilous condition of New York State after his tenure as governor?

I read Rudy’s book “Leadership” and was very much impressed the way he handled the 9/11 fiasco as well as his people-focused, action- and results-oriented approach. If elected, he will do a great job. Even though I am generally pro-Democrat, I have no hesitation in going in for Rudolph Guiliani.

I pray that the Democrats find someone who is electable. Hillary is too much of a risk, and it might mean that the Republicans win again. I don’t feel that anyone from NY has a real chance of winning the overall election. NY is in bad shape as a state, especially upstate, so why should the president be from a “failing” state?
I think America is FINALLY ready and long overdue for a female president. I believe Hillary would do the right thing for America.

Quite frankly, none of the potential candidates listed in your survey represents the values that I feel are important in leading our country. Given the limited choices you present, I am forced, as I am on many occasions when voting for representation in our nation’s government, with choosing the “least objectionable” candidate.
