The tax rate will drop some 10 percent from $6.62 per $1,000 of assessed property value to $5.98 under the city of Canandaigua’s 2005 budget adopted Thursday night.
City officials, however, said rates will vary because of a citywide revaluation completed last year.
The $10.9 million spending plan includes $204,000 in park improvements and construction. The city also will spend $37,000 for the new position of economic development director, who will be charged with recruiting and retaining new businesses citywide.
The city budget is up from $10.3 million this year.
