Riding lesson

Riding disciplines include:
–Hunter/jumper: Using an English seat, riders learn to walk, trot, canter and jump the horse, and typically ride in a riding arena.
–Eventing: A combined discipline where riders engage in cross-country, stadium jumping and dressage.
–Saddle seat: A form of English seat in which horses are trained to step higher and are encouraged to be flashy.
–Dressage: Another form of English riding where riders learn to maneuver the horse’s body through a series of required tests. This does not include jumping.
–Western: Although there are numerous specific Western riding disciplines, the Western saddle is common to all. Activities include barrel racing, pleasure riding and rodeo.
–Fox chasing: Also performed in English seat, horses, riders and hounds spend a day riding cross-country and negotiating numerous obstacles to “chase” a fox into its hole.
–Driving: The horse is hitched to a sulky, buggy or carriage and is “driven.”
