Career Development Services Inc.’s fall lineup features programs covering everything from assessing your career goals to starting your own business. Highlights follow. Unless otherwise noted, all programs are held at CDS headquarters at 706 East Ave. Call 244- 0750 for more information.
–“Are You Ready to Start Your Own Business? Part I” will be held on Thursday, Oct. 3, or Thursday, Nov. 7, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Whether you are thinking of starting from scratch or buying an existing business, this program will give you a comprehensive overview of essential steps to get a business going. The fee is $25 for CDS members, $30 for non-members, plus $20 for materials.
–“Just Do It: How to Start a Business Part II,” on Thursday, Oct. 10, or Thursday, Nov. 14, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., picks up where Part I leaves off. The fee structure is the same as in Part I, though there is a $5 discount for attending both sessions.
–“Beyond 9 to 5: Attractive Work Alternatives” will examine how career balance can be found by exploring alternate routes. The course will be held Thursday, Oct. 24, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Greece Olympia High School, and again Tuesday, Nov. 12, from 9:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. at Pittsford Parks and Recreation. –“The Internet: Pounding the Pavement on the Information Superhighway” will help you use savvy surfing to find work. Held Thursday, Oct. 24, from 6 p.m. to 8:15 p.m., the program costs $25 for members, $30 for non-members.
–“Your Career: Assessing, Exploring and Focusing” is a two-session workshop in which you’ll sort through and evaluate your skills, interests, needs and personality as they relate to establishing a career focus. Held several times throughout the fall, the program costs $50 for members and $55 for non- members, plus $10 for materials. Call CDS for dates and times.
–“The Up-to-Date Resume,” “Key Work Search Strategies” and “The Art of Interviewing” each will be held several times throughout the fall. Each costs $25 for members, $30 for non-members. Call CDS for dates and times.
