Monroe Title CEO exiting

Dennis O’Neill, president and CEO of Monroe Title Insurance Corp., is leaving the company to pursue other interests, it was announced today.
Thomas Moonan, chairman of Monroe Title’s board of directors, will become replace O’Neill, the company said.
O’Neill joined Monroe as CEO in December 1990. During his tenure, the company recorded record earnings and dividends; launched a state-of-the-art computerized search and abstracting program in Monroe and Erie counties; and standardized its statewide operations to improve customer service and profitability.
“What we have been able to accomplish over the past five and one-half years has positioned Monroe Title to be a leader in this industry as we move into the next century,” O’Neill said in a prepared statement.
“In light of this, I feel that the time is right for me to move on to other interests, and for the company to meet the challenges which lie ahead under new leadership,” he said. “I know they will be successful in doing so.”
Monroe Title provides a full range of title insurance and abstract services throughout Upstate New York. The company has 17 full-service offices and a network of agents and examining counsel throughout the state. The firm’s stock trades on the NASDAQ exchange under the symbol MTTL. News of O’Neill’s departure was released after the close of trading today.
