Eastway Lincoln-Mercury Inc. has asked for protection from creditors under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code.
The Webster Ford dealership yesterday filed a petition in Bankruptcy Court in Rochester.
Neither Eastway Lincoln-Mercury president Felix Sciallatta nor the firm’s bankruptcy attorney could be reached for comment today.
Court papers state the company’s assets at $4.31 million against liabilities of $4.67 million.
The filing did not name any creditors as having a secured interest in its assets.
The single largest creditor among 20 unsecured creditors named in the filing is a Bart Maimone of Rochester, to whom the firm said it owes $117,470.
Others debts listed in yesterday’s filing are: roughly $24,600 apiece owed to the Ford Motor Co. and Subaru; $71,258 owed to Gannett Rochester Newspapers; $34,562 to the state Tax Department, and $24,664 to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of the Rochester Area.
Ranked 15th on the Rochester Business Journal’s 1995 list of automobile dealerships, Eastway Lincoln-Mercury did not participate in this year’s survey. According to information it supplied to the Rochester Business Journal for last year’s list, the firm sold 800 new vehicles and 400 used ones in 1994.
