Expansion paves way for more CVC growth

CVC Products Inc. has completed expansion of its Lee Road plant and opened a new lab at its California research center.
CVC, a manufacturer of equipment used to make semiconductors, is on track to hit revenues in the $50 million range, President Christine Whitman told the Rochester Business Journal. The firm employs 200 workers–up from 140 last fall–and is hiring in engineering, software development, marketing and manufacturing.
The recent renovation of CVC’s plant boosts its capacity by 25 percent.
“This manufacturing expansion provides critical clean space needed to increase our manufacturing capacity for additional cluster tools, which will enable CVC to reduce system production times by several weeks,” said Richard Chicotka, vice president of operations.
At its Advanced Product Development Center in Fremont, Calif., CVC opened a new applications lab with a Class 100 clean room.
The lab “provides CVC with an essential West Coast commercial and process demonstration presence, one which will provide a far more convenient location for our valuable and growing Asian customer base,” said Mehrdad Moslehi, chief technical officer and senior vice president of advanced product development and systems engineering.
CVC makes thin-film process equipment for semiconductor integrated circuits and for thin-film magnetic recording head manufacturing.
