The Loop

The battle for Rochester’s skyline heated up this week, as Xerox announced plans to install its logo–a flaming red X–atop the east and west facades of Xerox Square, Rochester’s tallest building.
Kodak’s name already lights the night in blazing red letters, a recent addition to its State Street headquarters. (See photo in Picture of the Week.) That leaves Bausch & Lomb, which might be open to suggestions. Green glowing glasses, perhaps?

Jack Doyle, apparently suffering campaign ennui, has turned his attention to an even greater game: The Ryder Cup. Press releases are whizzing off the county executive’s fax on such weighty issues as ceremonial flag raising and community clean-up.
Come to think of it, these Ryder rites are perfect opportunities for glad-handing and baby kissing. The Republican incumbant is simply proving something golfers have long claimed: Two games are better than one.
