Rochester-based VoicePort LLC has launched its medication synchronization program, called SynchroScript, as well as two other services with a Tops Friendly Markets pharmacy in a Buffalo suburb.
The firm’s service will be used by Tops in Williamsville, Erie County.
“Allowing pharmacy patients the opportunity to pick up multiple prescription medications once a month has shown to significantly improve a patient’s proportion days covered on their medications," said Alphonse Sasso, vice president of business development for VoicePort. "When consumers stay adherent to their maintenance medications it translates to improved patient health outcomes while also increasing pharmacy efficiencies, a true win/win solution."
The speech solutions and voice response systems company’s systems help a pharmacist evaluate patients who should participate in the program, officials said. VoicePort’s portal offers anchor medication recommendations that the pharmacy team can assess in order to get a patient’s medications more streamlined on a once-a-month schedule. It also calculates the required short fills necessary.
VoicePort provides each pharmacy with an automated calling system to enroll patients in the synchronization program, to schedule the pharmacist-patient counseling sessions, and to alert patients when their medications are ready for pick up, company officials said.
