The inspiration for the ABC drama “Scandal” will be coming to Rochester as part of the Girl Scouts of Western New York's Leadership Breakfast Series.

Judy Smith, founder and president of Smith & Co., a leading strategic and crisis communications firm with offices in Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles, is slated to speak at the breakfast Sept. 27. Smith's firm has consulted for high-profile clients, including NFL quarterback Michael Vick and Monica Lewinsky.

Smith also worked in the White House, serving as special assistant and deputy press secretary to George H.W. Bush. During her tenure she provided communications advice on a range of foreign and domestic issues.

“I encourage everyone to join us for what will prove to be an insightful lecture from Judy Smith. As the number one crisis communication expert in America, she will be able to provide us with tips on how to not only protect our personal brand from crises but the organizations that we work for,” said Cindy Odom, CEO of Girl Scouts of Western New York.

The breakfast is to take place at the Radisson Hotel Rochester Riverside at 8 a.m. Tickets are $40. More information is available through the Girl Scouts of Western New York at 1-888-837-6410 or click here.
