United Airlines Inc. will close its operations division at Greater Rochester International Airport, laying off 40 workers in October and contracting the work to an outside vendor, company officials disclosed in a filing posted Monday.
United, the second-largest airline at the Rochester airport, will close its customer service and ramp operations in mid to late October, a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification filing posted on the New York State Department of Labor website states.
The airline also plans to close its operations division in at Albany International Airport, with 42 workers to be laid off, the filing states.
