Four Rochester-area companies will present this week at the SmartStart UNYTECH Venture Forum in Albany.
MicroGen Systems Inc. in Henrietta, Paramedic 92 Holdings Inc. in Webster, Raland Therapeutics Inc. in Perinton and Solid Cell Inc. in Gates are among 23 high-growth early stage companies to be featured at the 13th annual event.
“The surge in entrepreneurship Upstate New York is experiencing is evident in the true sophistication of this year’s ventures, offering solutions that can forever alter energy generation and medical research,” said Rami Katz, chief operating officer at Excell Partners Inc. in the Eastman Business Park, in a statement.
The companies are slated to present their business plans to investors Wednesday and Thursday. The UNYTECH forum has heard from 285 companies since its inception, with 62 raising more than $550 million in equity financing, officials said. That includes $72 million directly attributable to forum presentations.
“The field of companies this year is strong and diverse, representing a broad range of market opportunities, from biotech to medical devices to clean technology to social media,” said Richard Honen, the forum chairman and a partner at Phillips Lytle LLP, in a statement.
In addition to the investment pitches, the forum features panel presentations on topics such as the America Invents Act, Trends in Angel Funding and University Gap Funding.
