The $7 million Bridge Square LLC mixed-use redevelopment on West Main Street has officially opened, Rochester officials announced this week.
The 111-year-old building at 242 West Main St. includes 67,000 square feet of office, retail and loft-style residences.
Passero Associates P.C. and Spoleta Construction Corp. renovated the building, originally a factory and later home to the Josh Lofton Educational Center. Passero moved its headquarters to the second floor of the building from Liberty Pole Way at the east end of downtown.
“Downtown Rochester is rising, and the transformation of the historic Cascade District is more proof of that,” Mayor Thomas Richards said in a statement released Tuesday afternoon.
“Preserving Rochester’s rich heritage and landmark buildings is a priority,” he said. “Passero and Spoleta have done an outstanding job with this project, and we are encouraged by their commitment to downtown.”
More than 5,000 square feet of commercial retail space is available for lease on the ground floor, officials said. The third and fourth floors each hold 12 loft apartments. Underground parking and a fitness center will be available soon, officials said.
The Bridge Square LLC ranked No. 3 on the Rochester Business Journal’s list of COMIDA-Assisted Projects, ranked by amount of County of Monroe Industrial Development Agency assistance for projects approved during 2011.
