Twenty-three individuals have been selected as recipients of the Rochester Business Journal's 2013 Health Care Achievement Awards.
The awards are to be presented March 26 during a luncheon at the Hyatt Regency Rochester. The event will spotlight individuals and groups whose contributions to health care have been deemed outstanding by their colleagues, patients and supervisors.
Award nominations were made by community members, who supplied biographies, testimonials and other supporting information to the Health Care Achievement Awards committee.
Individuals and groups were eligible for consideration in seven categories: innovation, management, nurse, physician, senior care, special needs and volunteer.
This year's honorees are the 11th group to receive the Health Care Achievement Awards. The honorees for 2013 are:
Richard Gangemi M.D., former senior vice president for academic and medical affairs, chief medical officer, Rochester General Health System;
Travis Heider, executive director, American Diabetes Association of Upstate New York;
Raymond Mayewski M.D., senior associate dean, clinical affairs, and chief medical officer, University of Rochester Medical Center.
Mel Callan N.P., nurse practitioner and faculty member at the University of Rochester/Highland Family Medicine;
Colleen Klix R.N., senior director of nursing, Unity Health System's Edna Tina Wilson Living Center;
Mary Mahler R.N., administrative clinical leader, emergency services, Rochester General Health System.
Ronald Kirshner M.D., chief of cardiac services and cardiothoracic surgery, Sands-Constellation Heart Institute, Rochester General Health System;
Roger Oskvig M.D., associate professor, department of medicine, Highland Hospital;
James Wood M.D., medical director, hospice, Lifetime Care.
Patricia Bomba M.D., vice president and medical director, geriatrics, Excellus BlueCross BlueShield;
Robert W. Hurlbut, president, Hurlbut Care Communities/ROHM Services Corp.;
Supriya Mohile M.D., associate professor of hematology/oncology and director of the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center Geriatric Oncology Clinic/URMC.
Daniel Charcholla, recreation director, DePaul Community Services;
Stuart Loeb M.D., senior psychiatrist, Hillside Family of Agencies;
Richard Speisman DDS, chief of dentistry, Rochester General Health System.
Jo Ann Armstrong, Strong Memorial Hospital Clinic;
Gail Hubbard, Lifetime Care Hospice;
Stacey Ruisi, Camp Good Days and Special Times.
